According to the daily, at 15:00 local time tomorrow, a rally will take place in the surroundings of the Congress, and at 17:00 a march to Plaza de Mayo, in front of the Casa Rosada, will begin.
“The increase that the government opposes is very small, it is 17,000 pesos (around 17 dollars) which still does not solve the problems we have. However, we must prevent it from being vetoed”, Marcos Wolman, member of the Board, stated.
The government is defunding the pension system. Its plan is to privatize and install a model that failed in the 1990s, he added.
He also recalled that a campaign is being carried out to collect signatures against the policies of the Executive.
The increase in unemployment and informal work also undermines the system, because the number of salaried workers who contribute is decreasing. All this is happening while the minimum pension barely covers a third of the poverty basket, he said.
Among the groups supporting the protest are the Encuentro de Jubilados y Asambleas Barriales, the Frente Grande, Independientes and the Asociación Trabajadores del Estado.
