Maduro thanks ALBA-TCP for supporting Venezuela

Caracas, Aug 26 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro thanked Monday the ALBA-TCP member States and social movements for their support to Venezuela, in the face of the siege unleashed inside and outside his country after the July 28th election.

Maduro welcomed the convening of the 11th Extraordinary Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), and considered that it evidences the character of the deep unity, solidarity and mutual support among the countries of the group.

The Venezuelan head of State referred to the organization as “the vital core of the great homeland, of independence, honor, sovereignty” amid campaigns, such as the one faced by the Bolivarian Republic and the pretensions by international actors interested in seizing political power in nations with the main reserves of natural resources on the planet.

Maduro affirmed that although the Venezuelan people receive attacks from all sides, they were able to counteract “a cyber, fascist and criminal coup d’état” and do not fear an escalation of the offensive unleashed against them.

“What matters is that the Venezuelan people exist, are in combat and are in victory”, Maduro noted on his speech.

The ALBA-TCP summit is holding a virtual session on Monday, attended by Presidents: Miguel Diaz-Canel -Cuba, Luis Arce –Bolivia, and Daniel Ortega -Nicaragua, as well as Prime Ministers: Ralph Gonsalves – St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dickon Mitchell -Grenada, Roosevelt Skerrit -Dominica, Terrance Drew – St. Kitts and Nevis, and Philip Pierre – St. Lucia.

The Honduran Ambassador to Venezuela, Scarleth Romero is also attending as guest.

According to the Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Yvan Gil, the purpose of the meeting is to establish a position in solidarity with the Venezuelan Government and its people in view of the U.S. and EU interference.
