Speaking at the funeral ceremony, the head of the interim government Najib Mikati highlighted the nationalistic positions and ethical leadership of Al-Hoss in the interest of citizens, the homeland and the defense of the Palestinian cause.
Mikati also commended the late MP’s impartiality and excellent constitutional endeavors, for the sake of preserving the rights of the country.
Joining the tribute, presidential candidate and head of the Marada Movement, Sleiman Frangieh, wrote: Lebanon has lost a figure who will be hard to replace in politics, patriotism, humanity and commitment to national issues and identity.
The Free Patriotic Current acknowledged the way in which Al Hoss, a trained economist, trod a long path in politics under circumstances marked by hardship and division.
The Syrian Social Nationalist Party cited Al-Hoss was as an example of the official who refrained from seeking personal interests and the patriot who did not embrace sectarianism.
In a statement, the organization noted that Salim al-Hoss enriched the national political life with his presence, and gave it an honest moral dimension.
In this line of condolences, Hizbulah leader Hassan Nasrallah called him ‘a symbol of patriotism and integrity and a supporter of the Resistance until the last moments of his life’.
