Granma newspaper published this remark and added details about the territories where self-employed workers are currently authorized and, since last year, non-agricultural cooperatives.
The newspaper points out that as part of the decentralizing process of the powers to authorize new economic stockholders and other authorizations to the municipalities, the pilot territories were designated to begin to prepare their governments and other local authorities.
As reported by the MEP, this action is consistent with the municipal autonomy provided for in the 2019 Constitution and is under the powers that have been transferred to the municipalities.
The territories selected are Consolación del Sur, Pinar del Rio; Cotorro, Havana; San Jose de las Lajas, Mayabeque; Cardenas, Matanzas; Camajuaií, Villa Clara; Trinidad, Sancti Spiritus; Sibanicu, Camagüey; and Moa, Holguin.
Rio Cauto, Granma; Tercer Frente, Santiago de Cuba; Isla de la Juventud, and the provincial capitals of Artemisa, Cienfuegos, Las Tunas, Ciego de Avila, and Guantanamo are also on the list.
