Teletica channel informed that the reopening of the issue followed revelations by Vice President and Health Minister Mary Munive that the government is awaiting the results in Honduras of a pilot immunization plan against this mosquito-borne arboviruses.

The TV channel explains that the deaths occurred after Munive’s statements on August 18. The contagions ranged then and remain now at about 15,000 cases, for an increase of 329 percent compared to those diagnosed at a similar stage in 2023.

The minister informed the nation of the first deaths this year of two patients suffering from dengue and a third suspected of contracting the disease, along with the report of 1,000 new cases, which ratify the worst dengue outbreak in local history.

According to sources, the two vaccines that are making their way in the world to fight this disease, in Honduras among other nations, are TAK-003, which is developed by the Japanese pharmaceutical company Takeda, and CYD-TDV, produced by the French group Sanofi Pasteur.
