Niamey, Aug 23 (Prensa Latina) The floods of the current rainy season in Niger have already caused 217 deaths and some 200 injured, the country's authorities reported on Friday.

General Abdourahamane Tchiani, head of the military junta that governs Niger, gave instructions to prepare an aid budget and decided that the funding is guaranteed with its resources, so the Government has allocated about 18.3 million euros to face the situation.

Niger’s rainy season lasts from June to September.

As reported by Niger’s ANP news agency, more than 190 deaths and some 250,000 people affected were recorded in 2022. Floods in 2023 left 50 dead and affected 176,000 persons.
