Finance Minister Doudou Fwamba made the announcement the day before after a working session attended by Health Minister Roger Kamba and the director general of the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Jean Kaseya, Radio Okapi reported.
Fwamba remarked that the government has made available to the health teams the necessary means to face the spread of the disease, together with international partners, and pointed out that they are preparing to release 49 million dollars to fight the Mpox epidemic.
That amount covers the entire response, not including the cost of the vaccine, and is intended to cover deployment, care and surveillance operations, as well as laboratory activities, he explained.
Two days ago, the health minister said that the first vaccines against the disease should arrive in DRC next week, and commented that 3.5 million doses of the immunogen worth $600 million are needed to control the disease in the country’s 26 provinces.
