During the telephone conversation, which took place at the request of the US, the situation in the ceasefire negotiations between Hamas and Israel and developments in the region were assessed.

A new round of consultations was held in Doha, Qatar, on August 15th and 16th with the aim of concluding an agreement on the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip and the introduction of a ceasefire in the enclave.

A joint statement by Egypt, Qatar and the United States was published following the consultations, according to which the negotiations took place in a positive atmosphere.
