Government of Colombia seeks consensus on legislative agenda

Colombia, Aug 21 (Prensa Latina) The Government of Colombia seeks to create consensus around the measures that will soon be taken by Congress, which is why it is promoting meetings with different unions and with related and opposition parties.

Minister of the Interior Juan Fernando Cristo held a meeting with ten of the eleven opposition senators from the Radical Change party, as part of other similar conversations scheduled with all political associations. “We discussed several issues: firstly, how we can work with the different political, economic and social sectors to tone down political confrontation,” the minister revealed.

Cristo also said that several thematic tables will be held in the coming days to discuss the proposals that will be brought to Congress, with the ministers of Labor, Health and Agriculture attending them.

The director of the Administrative Department of the Presidency of the Republic, Laura Sarabia, met at the presidential palace with congressmen from the Historical Pact to talk about the legislative agenda and propose the roadmap of the procedures that will begin in the next weeks.

President Gustavo Petro led a meeting with part of his cabinet and the Association of Banking and Financial Entities of Colombia, Asobancaria.

According to a statement, a proposal of 50 billion pesos (approximately 12.5 billion dollars) intended to prioritize sectors, was reviewed during the meeting.
