New plane crash in Brazil leaves five dead

Brasilia, Aug 15 (Prensa Latina) A new plane crash in Brazil left at least five deaths on Thursday, in the central western Mato Grosso state, six days after a local aircraft went down in Sao Paulo, claiming 62 lives.

This time the plane crashed in the forests, 80 kilometers away from the city of Apiacás. So far, there is no accurate information on the number of occupantst, but it everything indicates so far there are no survivors.

The aircraft had eight seats, seven passengers and the pilot. The police confirmed the at least five deaths. One of the victims is the former chairman of the Union Sports Club of Rondonópolis, entrepreneur Arni Alberto Spiering, 69, and his two grandchildren. The athletic society expressed condolences for his death on social media.

Officers from the Apiacás Civil Police Station are on site to determine the circumstances of the tragedy in the extreme northern region of Mato Grosso.

A team from that law enforcement agency and from the Technical and Forensic Identification Unit was activated and are also heading to the site for the extraction and identification of fatal victims.

The Regional Service of Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents of the Brazilian Air Force was further mobilized and will send a team to the site.
