Fish and caves spark the tourists imagination in Cuba

Cienaga de Zapata, Matanzas, Cuba, Aug 15 (Prensa Latina) Landscapes that vividly spark one’s imagination greet tourists currently visiting the Ciénaga de Zapata (Zapata Swamp) National Park, a spot teeming with fish, caves and beaches in Western Cuba.

Escorted by experts from Cubanacán Hotel, the Prensa Latina reporter visited the Cueva de los Peces (Fish Cave), a place where mountains and sea water kiss each other and fish become part of an active scenery surrounding carefree swimmers.

Whether Cubans or foreigners, all those who have once come here are very likely to give it a second try, eager to take a dive into the deep blue sea, which becomes sort a balm for body and soul in these times of scorching summer.

The Fish Cave, located in Playa Giron, is a submerged over 70-meter-deep cavern blessed with an impressive natural pool of clear crystal water, which communicates with the sea through an underground tunnel.

This is the ideal place for the adventurous tourist to go snorkeling, having jumped into the water straight from a rustic ranchon (huts cluster) where local delicacies are readily served.

Virgin zones and extensive strips of beaches, unique vegetation and endemic fauna, all combine into the Fish Cave and nearby areas, a natural gem and one of the most attractive options in Cuba for visitors arriving in droves every year.
