Since February 26 of this year, the population of Carrefour has been at the mercy of the criminal groups that control this municipality and have even forced law enforcement officers to leave their stations.

It is now normal to see armed bandits everywhere, they have control of everything, since the state structures are almost non-existent.

They have their dynamics well conceived, they keep watch every day, they know who is at home and who went out, and at what time the inhabitants return to their homes. The gang members have established their own tax system, hence the business owners on the weekend pay their contribution according to the size of their establishment.

It is highly recommended to pay it because otherwise they loot and set fire to the property, even their physical integrity is in danger.

So far, the newspaper Le Nouvelliste could not verify whether the more formal businesses, such as gas stations, commercial banks, money transfer offices, operate according to the mood of the criminal groups planted in Carrefour.
