In declarations to the press, Gonzalez said that the retention of the 60 soldiers in the hands of the so-called Guardia Campesina in a rural zone of San Jose del Guaviare does not respond to a military operation coordinated by the Jorge Suarez Briceño bloc, an armed group with which there is a ceasefire and currently under the command of alias Calarca.
According to him, those who are holding the soldiers are seeking to draw attention to the fact that this zone should not become an area of war operations. “They are asking for the operation of distancing mechanisms, to avoid that they become clash zones where the population is left in the middle,” he told W Radio.
I have met with them, we have been in Concordia, in Puerto Rico, and we have a process for territorial transformations with the participation of these organizations, Gonzalez said.
The situation was unleashed in the region when last Friday a troop of 98 soldiers of the Eastern Specific Command of the Omega Task Force were detained by members of the peasant guards of the villages of Chuapal and Bocas de Caño Cafra, in San José del Guaviare.
