First corpses identified from plane crash in Brazil

Brasilia, Aug 12 (Prensa Latina) At least 12 corpses of the 62 that were in the plane that crashed on Friday in Sao Paulo, were identified up to this date at the Legal Medical Institute (IML) of the Brazilian state.

According to the state agency Agencia Brasil, one of the corpses was released to the relatives for the purpose of the legal procedure. The relatives are the first to be informed about the progress of the recognition works.

The IML Central is working exclusively on the case and on the identification of the victims’ remains.

About 40 professionals are working on the case, including doctors, forensic dentistry, anthropology and radiology teams.

The unit received the 62 bodies of the victims of the air tragedy, of which 34 were men and 28 women, including passengers and crew members.

The government of Sao Paulo decreed on Friday a three-day official mourning period in honor of the victims.
