According to the bulletin Informe Pastrán, which quotes a statement from the Ministry of Energy and Mines, more than six million Nicaraguans enjoy electric energy, and the goal for this year is to conclude with 99,57% coverage.
The information disclosed specified that electricity generation with renewable energies reached 62,42%, while 37,58% was from other sources.
In this sense, it was learned that 0,75% of the generation came from solar energy; 9,49% from hydroelectric; 11,86% from geothermal; 15,09% from biomass; 12,97% from wind power and 11,85% from imports from the Central American regional market.
Thanks to the Sandinista government’s drive to achieve a high percentage of electricity coverage, Nicaragua is today the best country in the Central American region in this aspect, surpassing Costa Rica, which has 99,4%.
