During the presentation of its annual report, ministry officials said that seven million Afghan refugees currently reside abroad, and there are also three million internally displaced persons within the country.
The head of planning and policy at the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, Mahmoodulhaq Ahadi, added that in that period, 788,822 internally displaced and returnee families have received cash and non-cash assistance.
According to the portfolio, more than 9,700 Afghan refugees who were imprisoned last year in Pakistan, Türkiye, and Iran have been released from prisons in those countries and have returned to the national territory.
