Palestinian Foreign Ministry calls on UN to enforce its resolutions

Ramallah, Aug 12 (Prensa Latina) The Palestinian Foreign Ministry demanded that the UN Security Council adopt measures to enforce its resolutions on the conflict with Israel, including sanctions against extremist settlers.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates demanded in a statement the inclusion of radical Israeli groups on the United Nations lists of terrorism, amid an increase in attacks by Israeli settlers against civilians in the West Bank, and denounced that these groups “continue to commit more crimes, attacks, and violations against Palestinian citizens, their lands, homes, properties, and crops.”

The ministry warned about a continued escalation of violence by these radicals and accused the Israeli Army of providing them with cover and protection. It also criticized the support of the Ministers of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, and Bezalel Smotrich, both known for their far-right and anti-Palestinian stances.

The Ministry cited data from the Palestinian Commission for Resistance to the Wall and Settlements, according to which settlers and soldiers carried out more than 1,100 attacks in the West Bank in July alone.

These ongoing crimes are clear proof of the failure of the international community to respect and implement the relevant Security Council resolutions, the Ministry stressed.

According to official data, some 200,000 Jewish settlers live in the occupied area of East Jerusalem and another 450,000 in the rest of the West Bank despite global rejection of the Israeli government’s expansionist policies.
