Tribal force in Syria overthrows US-backed separatist militia

Damascus, Aug 7 (Prensa Latina) Arab tribal forces today launched an offensive against the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and managed to expel them from several localities in the northeast of this nation.

According to local activists quoted by the media here, the separatist SDF militia, which is supported by U.S. forces illegally present in the country, had to abandon their positions in a dozen villages along the banks of the Euphrates River, under pressure from tribal formations using heavy and medium weapons.

The villages of Al-Shafah, Al-Susah, Al-Baqan, Gharanij, Al-Kashkiya, Abu Hamam, Mozan, Al-Arqoub, Al-Safafna and Al-Marashda, in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor, some 450 kilometers northeast of this capital, were captured, tribal sources indicated.

They specified that after the violent clashes, the SDF irregulars abandoned their weapons and positions, while the tribes are currently advancing towards the towns of Abu Hardoub, Al-Tayana, Dhiban, Al-Hawaij, Al-Bahra, Al-Sabha, Ibriha and Al-Basira. The SDF lost dozens of its soldiers, including a commander, in addition to the capture of others, while three of its Hummer armored vehicles were destroyed and others were captured by the armed tribesmen.
