No place is safe in Gaza due to Israeli attacks, UNRWA says

Ramallah, Aug 7 (Prensa Latina) The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA) once again condemned the Israeli military offensive against the Gaza Strip and warned that no place is safe due to to the constant bombings.

“In the midst of continuous military operations, families are forced to move with nowhere to go,” the agency criticized in X, denouncing that evacuation orders occur almost daily, shelters are overcrowded and people have to return to destroyed areas, taking serious risks due to unexploded ordnance.

A week ago, UNRWA commissioner general Philippe Lazzarini denounced that the Israeli army murdered 202 agency workers in Gaza in the last 10 months. “They were teachers, doctors, nurses, social workers, engineers, support staff, logisticians and communications technicians,” he stated.

“Most of our colleagues were killed with their families at home or in a place they thought would be safe. Several were killed in the line of duty while providing humanitarian assistance to communities in need,” the commissioner stressed.

According to the United Nations Satellite Center (UNOSAT), since October of last year, Israeli troops have destroyed more than 151,200 structures in the Strip.

UNOSAT highlighted that the conflict generated a volume of debris 14 times greater than the combined total of all wars in Gaza since 2008. “In the last 10 months, almost 41.9 million tons of debris were generated,” it announced.

Palestinian authorities affirm that more than 39,000 people died in the territory as a result of the Israeli war campaign, while more than 91,000 were injured.
