Mali breaks with Ukraine and supports Russian diagnosis

Bamako, Jul 5 (Prensa Latina) The military government of Mali supported the Russian diagnosis "on the neo-Nazi character" of the Ukrainian authorities, allied with international terrorism", a statement announcing the rupture of diplomatic relations with Kiev says.

Mali took note of the declarations of the spokesman of the Ukrainian Intelligence Service, Andrei Yusov, admitting the participation of that country “in a cowardly, barbaric attack by terrorists” that caused the death of Malian military in the city of Tinzauatene (north), the text, signed by the Minister of Territorial Administration Abdoulaye Maiga, says.

Last week the Malian military government announced the death of 47 soldiers and 84 advisors of the Russian paramilitary group Wagner in a clash with Tuareg rebels in the north of the country.

The statement also underlines that Ukraine neither denied nor condemned the reports which demonstrates “a clear official support of the Ukrainian government for terrorism in Africa, the Sahel and Mali” and stresses that such decisions “violate the sovereignty of Mali (…) constitute aggression” and violate international law, including the UN Charter. jrr/arm/mem/ms
