Russia calls on the UK to abstain from using violence

Moscow, Aug 5 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, called on the United Kingdom to abstain from using unjustified violence against protesters.

The functionary commented on Telegram, the ongoing wave of protests in the UK, pointing out the unfounded accusations against Russia of repressing dissidents and applying censure, as well as calling loudly to respect democracy and human rights. However, in this case, the British authorities must act exclusively based on the law.

Zakharova stated that citizens have the right to express their disagreement with the authorities’ policy, and added that Moscow calls on London to “abstain from making an unjustified and disproportionate use of violence against protesters, and guarantee the respect for the right of the British people to freedom of gathering.”

The official stressed that Russia does not interfere in the internal affairs of foreign states and abstains from giving instructions on solving internal problems and crises.

Como resultado, casi 40 agentes de las fuerzas del orden resultaron heridos.

On July 29th, the British detained a 17-years-old male who attacked and murdered three 6- and 7-years-old girls and wounded another 10 people, including 8 minors, in the city of Southport, sparking several protests both in the city and elsewhere in the country, including London. The protests evolved into riots and clashes with the police, resulting in nearly 40 police officers injured.
