Demonstrations in favor of the rights of Muslims and national minorities were organized to confront calls for rallies in 25 cities across the nation, The Morning Star reported.
At least 100 people were arrested this weekend during protests by the far-right instigating racial and religious hatred, following the stabbing to death last week of underage girls in the city of Southport, where protests were also recorded.
False reports that the three girls were killed by Muslims and immigrants only increased tensions and riots in recent days, the newspaper noted.
The Morning Star noted that some far-right groups such as Patriotic Alternative posted on Telegram open calls for demonstrations.
A judge revealed that the person responsible for the death of three minors in Southport was a 17-year-old Christian from Rwanda.
