Angola and Cuba have the potential to expand cooperation (+Photo)

Luanda, Aug 2 (Prensa Latina) Prime Minister Manuel Marrero said on Friday that Cuba and Angola have the potential for a much broader and mutually advantageous cooperation, one of the objectives of his visit to Luanda.

Speaking to the press after meeting with Angolan President João Lourenço, the head of Government conveyed ‘a warm embrace from the brotherly people of Cuba to the Angolan people,’ and a special greeting on behalf of the leader of the Revolution, Army General Raul Castro, and President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

Marrero highlighted the cordiality of his meeting with Lourenço, who exchanged feelings of friendship with the delegation, particularly with Army Corps General and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Ramon Espinosa.

Espinosa was one of the main military chiefs of the Cuban troops who fought in defense of Angola’s sovereignty and was a comrade-in-arms of the Angolan president.

The Cuban Prime Minister said that during the meeting, they took stock of political, economic and commercial relations between the two countries.

He shared Lourenço’s announcement about the inauguration, on October 11, of a hospital that will bear the name of the first chief of the Cuban military mission in Angola, Commander Raul Diaz Argüelles.

Marrero assured that there will be a Cuban delegation at that inauguration, and expressed gratitude for the gesture that constitutes a reason of honor.

“We came with a broad work agenda to strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation between our countries, which are historic.”

“History united us forever,” Marrero explained.

He remarked that even amid those difficulties, Cuba continues to collaborate with other nations, especially in the fields of health care and education; and stressed that Cuba does not give what it has left over, but shares what it has.
