Cuban prime minister develops busy agenda in Angola

Luanda, Aug 2 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero started a busy agenda in Angola on Friday, which includes talks, meetings, and visits to places of interest.

Marrero arrived in Luanda on Thursday from Iran, where he represented his nation at the swearing-in ceremony of President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The head of the Cuban government was received at the “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport by Maria Fragoso Pascoal Ramiro, Secretary of State for Administration, Finance, and Patrimony at the Foreign Ministry, and Manuel Antonio Gonçalves, Vice Governor of Luanda Province.

Other participants were Angolan Ambassador to Cuba, Cândida Teixeira, and Felisberto dos Prazeres Martins, Director for America at the Foreign Ministry.

During his stay in Luanda, Marrero will pay tribute to National Hero and first president of Angola, Antonio Agostinho Neto, and Cuban commander Raul Diaz Argüelles, the first head of the island’s military mission in Angola who died on December 11, 1975.

He will also hold meetings within the context of the historical relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Angola and Cuba have relations that date back to the years of the Angolan struggle for independence.

In the mid-1970s, the Caribbean nation played a key role in providing military, technical, and humanitarian assistance to the African country.
