Uruguayans call for vote counting without interference in Venezuela

Montevideo, Jul 30 (Prensa Latina) The Communist Party of Uruguay (CPU) welcomed the people's participation in Venezuela's elections, and demanded that the vote counting be carried out without foreign interference.

A statement from the CPU Executive Committee affirmed that these elections were the result “of a difficult process of dialogue, in which all political parties participated in order to create solutions to the crisis that the brother country is going through.”

It considered that the Venezuelan electoral system, recognized as one of the safest in the region, must complete the vote-counting process without interference.

In this regard, the Uruguayan communists noted that they endorse the statement from Frente Amplio (Broad Front) on the issue.

It recalled that the National Electoral Council, which proclaimed the victory of President Nicolás Maduro, is the only legal entity in the matter.

“There are sectors that denounce, without evidence, an alleged fraud,” the statement pointed out.

The right wing and Yankee imperialism have always ignored the results of the elections in Venezuela, imposed sanctions and even staged coups d’état, the statement added.

It said that after the process of publication of the results is completed, the results must be respected.

From our anti-imperialist definition and our commitment to Latin American unity, we express our solidarity with the Venezuelan people and our commitment to contribute so that they may build their future in sovereignty and peace, the declaration concluded.
