According to local media, in statements to the Cuban leader at the Presidential Palace, Pezeshkian noted that it will be a priority of his government to strengthen relations with Cuba.
He also expressed the will to give continuity to the excellent bilateral relations, and to work together in the implementation of all the agreements, especially in the economic, commercial, cooperation and investment fields.
After praising Fidel’s leadership and imprint on the revolutionaries, the Iranian president-elect highlighted the Cuban people’s long struggle against imperialism and unilateralism, and ratified that Iran will always support the ideals of independence.
The two parties also called for a ceasefire and an end to the systematic genocide committed by Israel’s military forces against the Palestinian people, an aggression that began on October 7, 2023.
Marrero Cruz, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), wished the newly elected president success during his term in office and conveyed greetings from Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, and from the PCC First Secretary and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, Granma newspaper reported.
The Cuban leader is on an official visit to Iran, which will last until August 1.
