A press release from La Moneda Palace stated that this marks the first visit by a Chilean president to a country in the Persian Gulf region.
Boric’s agenda started with a meeting in Abu Dhabi with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan within the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed between the two nations which aims to enhance the exchange of goods and services in transportation, agriculture, clean energy generation, science, and infrastructure.
Later, the Chilean head of State chaired a forum with directors of Investment Funds from the United Arab Emirates and leaders of Chilean business organizations.
Attending the meeting were Ricardo Mewes, president of the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC), and Rosario Navarro, president of the Manufacturing Development Society (SOFOFA), among others, who are part of the Chilean delegation.
The visitor also toured the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, built in honor of UAE’s first President Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who died in 2004.
On Tuesday, Boric and his delegation will travel to Dubai to visit the Jebel Ali Port, the largest in the Middle East, and meet with entrepreneurs who operate such facilities worldwide.
The official trip will conclude with an audience with the Emir of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
