Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian emphasized that an early ceasefire, cessation of war, and the search for a political solution are in the common interest of all parties.
“China will continue to stand on the side of peace and dialogue, and support the international community to achieve more consensus and jointly find a practical way to resolve the crisis politically,” he added.
The statements came amid the fourth round of shuttle diplomacy launched by Beijing to address the Ukraine-Russia conflict with visits to Brazil, South Africa, and Indonesia.
This is a new attempt by China to promote a political solution to the crisis, less than a week after Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba’s agenda in China ended.
During his talks with the head of China’s diplomacy Wang Yi, Kuleba said that Kiev is ready for “substantial and rational” dialogues and negotiations, while praising Beijing’s “constructive role” in promoting peace and maintaining international order.
“Ukraine considers China’s views important and has carefully studied the “Six-Point Consensus” proposed by China and Brazil for a political solution to the crisis in Ukraine,” he added.
