In light of a series of diplomatic and political contacts in the framework of following up on repeated Israeli threats against the nation, the PM called to avoid falling into an escalation that will complicate the situation and lead to undesirable consequences.

According to the Lebanese government’s X social media account, Mikati condemned in his communications all forms of violence against civilians and reiterated the need for a sustainable ceasefire on the fronts as the only possible solution to avoid further loss of life and further aggravation of the situation in the area.

Concurrently, he stressed that “the Lebanese position is understood by all friends and contacts continue in more than one international, European and Arab direction to protect the country and avert its dangers.”

The Lebanese Prime Minister’s statement came in the context of growing tension following the impact of an Israeli interceptor missile, launched from the Iron Dome system, which killed 12 people in Majdal Shams and left some 30 injured, some critically.

In this context, UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the Israeli attack on a soccer field in Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan.
