Deaths in traffic accidents increase in El Salvador

El Salvador muertos accidentes
San Salvador, Jul 24 (Prensa Latina) The National Civil Police (PNC) and the Salvadoran Green Cross reported the death of two drivers and several injured in two traffic accidents registered this morning.

These numbers increase the figures pointed out by the Road Safety Observatory, according to which seven people die every day in the country in traffic accidents. From January 1 to July 22, 2024, the authorities registered 10,631 road accidents that left 6,214 injured and 738 dead.

The day before, a trailer moving along Boulevard Los Próceres in this capital city, hit several vehicles, an accident that is still being investigated by the authorities and for which there is still no information.

The event went viral in X social media, especially because it occurred in the same area where in the year 2023 there was another mishap that left deaths, injuries and material damages.

One of the victims of the early morning was a woman who crashed against the protective bars of the road leading to Puerto de la Libertad, specifically at kilometer 27, who died instantly, two children and two other people were injured.

The PNC reported another accident that left one person dead at kilometer 140 of the Panamerican highway, near the Jardines de La Ceiba neighborhood, San Miguel.

Traffic events, especially involving motorcycles, have become a serious problem for the country despite the deployment of agents, the fight against alcohol consumption and speeding.
