In an interview with TASS news agency, the diplomat explained that during the productive consultations by experts from the legal and territorial divisions of the two countries’ foreign ministries, held in Moscow on June 21, it was possible to finalize its drafting.
As a result of these talks, it was agreed to initiate the necessary internal procedures to prepare for the signing of the treaty within the framework of one of the upcoming bilateral contacts at the highest level.
We hope that in the near future we will witness this truly historic event, the deputy minister said.
The work on drafting such a solid document, aimed at raising the character of Russian-Iranian relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, has lasted nearly two and a half years, and it can be considered completed today, Rudenko said.
Earlier, IRNA news agency reported that Iranian President-elect Masud Pezeshkian said in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin that Tehran is ready to sign a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty with Moscow in October, during the Brics summit in Kazan.
