During the meeting, held on Saturday, the Cuban leader said that Volodin’s presence in the Caribbean nation is very significant and reflects the excellent state of political and economic-commercial relations.
Diaz-Canel conveyed warm greetings to his counterpart Vladimir Putin, on behalf of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raúl Castro, and on his own.
He stressed that Volodin’s meeting with the president of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo, represents one more step to further strengthen relations between the two parliaments.
The head of state also referred to the issues addressed by the third ordinary session of the legislative body, which included the approval of several laws, “as a sign of the intense legislative work carried out by our parliament,” he said.
For his part, the head of the State Duma conveyed Putin’s greetings to the leader of the Cuban Revolution and to Diaz-Canel himself.
He ratified the readiness to maintain the partnership between the two nations and the support to continue the development of trade relations.
