Speaking the day before, at the commemorative ceremony for the 45th anniversary of the triumph of the Sandinista Popular Revolution, Ortega said that in Nicaragua peace was recovered and described this event as a victory of the people.

The Sandinista leader referred to the days of celebrations for the red-black Revolution and how Nicaraguans expressed themselves with joy and did not burn houses or destroy health centers and university campuses, as what happened here, in April 2018 during the attempted coup.

“And why is there so much joy? And why are so many people moving late at night from one side to the other? Because there is peace, because there is security,” the president reiterated.

On the other hand, Ortega mentioned the support of initiatives to stop Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people, which the International Court of Justice has pronounced clearly.

“But how to stop this genocide, if the resolutions of the International Court of Justice are not respected?” Ortega asked and recalled that this court ruled in favor of Nicaragua and against the United States for the aggression in the 1980s.
