A report by Moisés Urbina from the morning newscast on Telecorporación Salvadoreña (TCS) indicated that the phenomenon comes from the Colombian coast and will bring rains throughout the country.
Meanwhile, meteorologist David Pichinte forecast rains due to the tropical wave that will be crossing the Salvadoran territory on Friday and “on Saturday it will be moving away; however, its influence will be maintained during the day. The wave will generate rains, thunderstorms and winds.”
The MARN warned that the accumulated humidity may cause flooding, flash floods, overflows, urban flooding, falling trees, landslides and rock falls.
The entity stated that for the next 48 hours there is a medium probability of flash floods that may generate overflows in the eastern part of the country, with damage to infrastructure and livelihoods.
According to the authorities, similar conditions are expected for Friday and Saturday “in terms of the occurrence of strong storms, hail, electrical activity and wind gusts”.
