Massive computer failure did not affect Russian airports nor airlines

Moscow, Jul 19 (Prensa Latina) The massive computer failure that today grounded many flights around the world did not affect Russian airports nor airlines, the Rosaviatsiya air transport agency reported.

Data for 11:30 (Moscow time) show that Russia’s air transport, its airlines and airports are operating normally, flights are operating as scheduled in the face of computer failures around the world, the agency’s statement posted on its Telegram channel pointed out.

Russian civil aviation organizations began to introduce specialized domestic software in their work, already several years ago, and the process of import substitution in the industry continues.

In turn, Russian airports such as Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Sheremetevo confirmed the information, and all said they were ready to offer services.

One of the key factors for the sustainability of airport information systems is the implementation of in-house developments and import substitution solutions, Rosaviatsia commented.

Aeroflot, S7 Airlines and Red Wings airlines also confirmed that they were not affected by the global IT failure.

Several countries around the world are reporting problems with the computer system on Friday, preventing the normal operation of airports.

Media reports claim that the widespread crash is due to an update of the CrowdStrike security platform that went wrong and affected the operation of companies, banks, airports and other institutions around the world.
