The document considers the list arbitrary and slanderous the presence of the Caribbean country in that definition of the White House, which constitutes ‘an attempt by anti-Cuban politicians to perpetuate that mendacious qualification, through maneuvers in the U.S. Congress’.
The denunciation also reports on legislative proposals in the U.S. aimed at restricting the government’s capacity to correct injustice and recognize the truth, if that were its intention.
The U.S. government and its law enforcement agencies, as well as its intelligence agencies, know with sufficient evidence that it is absolutely false that Cuba sponsors terrorism, the statement says.
According to the Cuban legislators, Cuba’s transparent and consistent stance against all forms and manifestations of terrorism, including state terrorism, is known by the international community and Washington.
This is confirmed by Cuban legislation, both in the Constitution and in the Penal Code, which has clear, firm and unmistakable provisions against this scourge, states the document read before the plenary of the Third Ordinary Session of the ANPP.
The National Assembly recognizes the multiple declarations that demand the United States to put an end to this unjust designation, issued by governments from all continents, especially from Latin America and the Caribbean; from international and regional groups such as the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union (EU), it adds.
Legislators, parliamentary friendship groups, national parliaments and leaders of regional interparliamentary institutions, religious and social organizations, solidarity groups and Cubans in almost all the world have also spoken out against that policy.
The island’s parliamentary body also highlights this claim within the United States by various players, including federal and state congressmen, city councils, activist organizations, professionals, unions and labor entities, county and school boards.
The people of Cuba have suffered terrorism in their own flesh and still face the threat of violent and terrorist actions organized and financed from U.S. territory by people and figures who enjoy the tolerance of the authorities there,’ they emphasized.
By virtue of this, the ANPP reiterates its firm commitment to continue fighting against terrorism in all its forms, and also to fight against imperialism’s attempts to manipulate opportunistically such a serious and sensitive issue in its policy of hostility against Cuba.
