MPs will evaluate the draft policy for the law on the socialist state enterprises, due to be debated shortly. Lay judges will also be elected to the Supreme People’s Court, and deputies will take over seats, vacant for different reasons.
A selection process will also be carried out for the members of the National Electoral Commission, an entity established to organize, direct, and supervise elections, popular consultations, plebiscites, and referendums in the country.
This Monday, 11 Commissions debated matters of public interest, including a draft opinion on the Ministry of Internal Trade management.
The development of the decentralization of powers to the municipalities, the relevance of the socialist state company as a fundamental economic actor, alternatives to guarantee the family basket, the Women’s Advancement Program, the systems to social assistance guarantee, the state of the Industry Food and the implementation of the Comprehensive Policy for Children, Adolescents and Youth, steps to modify the energy matrix, the operation of pharmacies, the promotion of safe and responsible sexuality in young people, and the control and execution of the State Budget, were among the issues discussed by legislators.
The information on the economic performance in the first half of 2024 and the measures adopted to avoid and combat crimes, illegalities, and corruption that harm Cuba’s economic performance deserved special attention.
