The president of Russia’s State Duma, Viacheslav Volodin, wrote on Telegram that the event will discuss proposals and initiatives that contribute to raising the quality of life of the people of the BRICS member countries.
Volodin stressed that the BRICS is the new core of the multipolar world, and its member countries account for 36.8 percent of the world’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), surpassing the G7, whose GDP accounts for 29 percent.
In the official’s opinion, in 15 years of existence, the bloc has become one of the largest economic centers on the planet; which is why, it has been targeted by Washington and the European Union, which have done everything to break up the international economic relations that were established with the emergence of the group.
The Duma president stressed that by fighting for its hegemony, intervening in the internal affairs of other countries, and using double standards, the United States made many countries choose the path of defending their sovereignty, dialogue among equals and mutually beneficial cooperation.
