Belmopan, July 10 (Prensa Latina) Around 100 aviation leaders meet today at the 12th Annual Meeting of Civil Aviation Directors of North America, Central America and the Caribbean, which is being held in the Belizean city of Placencia.

Belize, the host country, is a nation where aviation is the linchpin of its thriving tourism sector, which accounts for 55 percent of GDP.

The conference, which began last July 9 and will last until tomorrow, July 11, outlines strategies to collaborate in improving aviation security and facilitation.

Its agenda also includes the discussion of topics such as security, challenges in air interconnectivity in the area and the implementation of standards and practices recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization.

During the conclave, participants highlighted Belize’s dedication to excellence in aviation and its growing prominence in regional aviation affairs, according to a press release from the Cuban delegation, represented by Armando Daniel López, president of the Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Cuba and Orlando Nevot González, director of Aeronavigation of said institution.
