Anabel Nuñez Gonzalez, a member of the communications team at the Nicolas Guillen Foundation, told Prensa Latina that the event aims to keep alive the literary and social legacy of the writer and journalist in the new generations and take his work to different sites nationwide.
She pointed out that another goal is to strengthen the author’s presence and the Foundation’s work on social media, adapting to the new information dynamics.
The program consists of activities in Havana, Ciego de Avila, and Camagüey provinces, including the launch of a collection of poetry and books, the “Songoro Cosongo” Poetry Festival, lectures, visits to nursing homes, and artistic performances.
The event, organized by the Nicolas Guillen Foundation and its branch offices, is also supported by the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC), the Cuban Book Institute, the National Directorate of Culture Houses, the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), the Ministry of Culture (MINCULT), and the Ideological Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).
