Santiago, spokesman in the Lower House of Izquierda Unida (IU) for the plurinational group Sumar, received in the parliamentary headquarters the head of the diplomatic mission, at the head of a representation of the Embassy in Spain of the South American country, official sources reported today.
Along with Santiago, the also deputy of Sumar and in the same Foreign Affairs Committee, Tesh Sidi, as well as the federal coordinator of Izquierda Unida, Antonio Maíllo, participated in the exchange.
During the meeting of about an hour, valued by IU as ‘interesting and very profitable’, various points of view on issues affecting both countries were addressed.
The rights, duties and situations affecting the large number of Venezuelan citizens with different administrative statuses residing in Spain as a whole, and especially in Madrid, were discussed.
Likewise, during the conversation with Ambassador Gutierrez, the evolution of diplomatic relations between Spain and Venezuela was discussed, as well as the active role of the Iberian country in bringing the image of the Venezuelan State closer to the European Union (EU) as a whole.
The diplomat also exchanged with her interlocutors about the political situation in Spain, the outcome of the recent legislative elections in France and also the upcoming presidential elections in less than a month in Venezuela and those in autumn in the United States.
