For some time we have been warning the United States about terrorists operating against Cuba from Florida.
“However, they continue to act with impunity,” the president denounced in X social media.
The head of state stressed that the position of the northern nation does correspond to a state sponsor of terrorism, a designation imposed on the Caribbean country, despite the broad international rejection.
An investigation by the Cuban Ministry of the Interior (Minint) released yesterday determined the direct participation of violent organizations from South Florida in a frustrated terrorist operation against Cuba.
Speaking in a special program broadcast on national television, Colonel Victor Alvarez, second chief of the Specialized Body of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Interior Ministry, explained that facts like this have been repeatedly denounced to the U.S. authorities.
Alvarez added that the capture in December 2023 of Ardenys Garcia Alvarez, 40 years old, after his infiltration through the north of the western province of Matanzas, originated an investigation that allowed the confirmation of his objectives and the identification of his financiers and accomplices.
Ardenys Garcia Alvarez, born in the province of Cienfuegos (center-south), illegally emigrated to the United States in 2014, and in December 2023 he smuggled weapons and ammunition into Cuba, using a jet ski, with the purpose of carrying out terrorist actions, he reported.
The investigation showed that this action was planned, organized, supported and financed by a group of Cuban terrorists based in the United States, some of whom have carried out others of that nature in Cuba, he said.
He also noted that these acts were repeatedly denounced to U.S. authorities and U.S. law enforcement agencies.
