The lawmakers described as absurd and inconsistent with modern realities that the United States Department of State keeps Cuba on that list, TASS reported on Tuesday.
The State Duma noted that the document approved by the Russian lawmakers will be sent to the United Nations and several international parliamentary organizations.
Likewise, the text indicated that the legislative body considers that Cuba faithfully fulfills its international obligations and contributes to the search for political solutions, including the armed conflict in Colombia as a guarantor state.
“Cuba’s inclusion in the SSOT list was an act contrary to the interests of the Colombian negotiation process and has nothing to do with international efforts to fight terrorism and its sponsors. It is nothing but an expression of Washington’s politically motivated cynicism, the declaration added.
The State Duma lawmakers consider the United States’ pressure on Cuba a flagrant example of interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state and unfair management of interstate relations by restrictive measures.
Finally, the Russian lawmakers assume that the immediate removal of the Republic of Cuba from that list will contribute to building a multipolar world based on the balance of interests and the principles of equality and justice.
