Türkiye calls for greater pressure on Israel for ceasefire agreement

Ankara, July 5 (Prensa Latina) The president of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, today called on Western countries to put greater pressure on the Government of Israel to materialize a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

According to the state news agency Anatolia, the president pointed out that the Qatari authorities, in their role as mediators, apply the necessary pressure through different channels to try to stop the attacks, after almost nine months of conflict.

After his trip to Kazakhstan, where he participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, Erdogan said they hope for a definitive ceasefire as a result of US President Joe Biden’s call to Israel, and the end of the massacres committed by Tel Aviv.

This Thursday, the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, authorized the sending of a new negotiating team to address with Hamas the possibility of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of hostages.

For its part, the Islamic Resistance Movement demands an end to the offensive and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, although the Tel Aviv authorities affirmed that the agreement would not lead to the cessation of their attacks.
