Tokaev pointed out that Belarus completed all the necessary procedures for its membership in the organization in a short period.
The accession of Belarus into the SCO brings the number of members to 10, since it previously brought together China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The heads of State and Government of the member countries and of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Mongolia, Turkmenistan and Türkiye are participating in the Summit.
The SCO represents 25 percent of the global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and accounts for nearly half of the planet’s population.
