In its latest bulletin, which evaluated the month of May, the entity recalled that the General Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 100 between 2017 and 2018.
The report specified that in April 2024 it stood at 398.2 and in the fifth month of the year it rose to 404.9, thus registering monthly increases of 1.8 percent.
The upturn in observed monthly CPI inflation is the result of almost all consumption functions, the document pointed out.
The prices of local products, for the fourth consecutive time, soared by 28.9 percent and imported products by 27.3 percent.
The CPI for the country as a whole by consumption function had an overall index of 1.7 percent in May 2024 and 28.3 year-on-year, the report of the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics disclosed, cited by the Haiti Libre digital newspaper.
