Early this morning, the COE issued the first bulletin with the preliminary damages caused by the hurricane. The text details that 57 aqueducts are out of service in several provinces of the country due to the high water turbidity.
The report also indicates that the damages caused by the strong waves, gale force winds and rains interrupted the service at kilometer 42 of the highway Las Americas and the 30 de Mayo highway in Santo Domingo.
On the other hand, the mayor’s office of the municipality of Boca Chica reported that several businesses in the beach area were affected due to the strong waves.
Regarding the electrical system, the Ministry of Energy and Mines reported that due to the strong winds and waves generated by Beryl, the electrical infrastructure was affected, leaving several service circuits, so they are working on them to return to normal.
The Civil Defense reported that the rains caused landslides in the La Zurza sector.
In Barahona, as a preventive measure, 15 people were evacuated and sheltered in the Professor Juan Bosch School; 38 in the La Lanza School and 13 in the Pentecostal Church. Meanwhile, in Pedernales, nine people are sheltered in the Luis Emilio Perez Mendez Educational Center.
In addition, as preventive measures in the municipality of Oviedo, 14 people were housed in the Ezequiel Hernandez Educational Center, Las Mercedes neighborhood.
