South Korea and Vietnam promote bilateral ties through trade

Seoul, Jul 1 (Prensa Latina) The South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy reported today that it organized a business forum with Vietnam to seek new partnership opportunities in chips, artificial intelligence (AI) and other areas.

The Ministry said that around 500 government officials and business executives from both countries attended the event, which took place within the framework of the visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính to Seoul.

The Vietnamese head of government began his four-day trip to South Korea on Sunday.

Among 146 countries investing in Vietnam, South Korea is the top one, with investment exceeding US$87 billion in about 10,000 projects. We highly appreciate the contributions of South Korean enterprises to Vietnam’s economy and society, stressed the Vietnamese prime minister.

During the event, South Korean Trade Minister Ahn Duk-geun expressed his hope to expand trade and investment ties with the Southeast Asian country and collaborate in other economic areas, including supply chains.

Ahn added that the two governments plan to make proactive efforts to cooperate in expanding trade and investment, maintaining a stable supply chain and addressing energy sectors, including climate change and nuclear reactors.

During the forum, the two countries also signed 23 memorandums of understanding on biotechnology, semiconductors, AI, education and healthcare, among other fields.
