The head of State expressed his strong support for the Secretary General’s initiatives to ensure international security and stability, reform the UN and its main institutions, as well as to hold the Summit of the Future next year in New York City, the statement said.
It added that Mirziyóyev and Guterres exchanged views on current international and regional issues.
In particular, they discussed the situation in Afghanistan, stressed the need to increase humanitarian aid to the population of that country and to develop a consolidated strategy of the world community around that nation.
At the end of the meeting, they agreed to work out a framework program of cooperation between the country and the UN for the stable development of Uzbekistan for 2026-2030 period.
Other issues included collaboration in developing transport connectivity, ensuring food, energy and information security in the region.
Guterres is on an official visit to Uzbekistan from June 30 to July 1.
