According to information from the Presidency in its X account, the tour began in areas of the usufructuary Roberto Domínguez, who tends 33 hectares of land, dedicated primarily to the cultivation of sweet potatoes.
In the exchange with the producer, Díaz-Canel inquired about the workers’ salary, which is around 500 pesos a day, while recognizing the results that allow them to achieve profits.
At the end of 2023, more than 2,900 tons of sweet potatoes were harvested here, indicated the Cuban President.
On his fifth visit of the year to this territory, the head of state also arrived at the provincial Meat Company, where minced meat is made, which, as part of the basic basket, is distributed to children in the regions of Mayabeque and the capital of the country.
The company recently began to implement chain production with other forms of management, which will allow them to take better advantage of installed capacities and diversify offers.
In dialogue with local residents, the president commented on the objectives of these visits and called on them to continue looking for alternatives to advance in solving the difficulties.
“Transformation cannot only be structural, it also has to be social and spiritual,” he pointed out.
In his previous visits to this province in 2024, the head of state was in: Güines, Madruga, San José and Santa Cruz del Norte
